Dr. Ranschaert has held the position of Visiting Professor of Radiology at Ghent University (UGent) since 2019. In this capacity, he primarily supervises medical students in the Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Medicine programmes in the context of their thesis work, acting as promotor or co-promotor.

He is also actively involved in doctoral education as co-promotor of PhD candidates. This includes, for example, the co-supervision of a PhD candidate at Maastricht University whose research focused on the clinical application and validation of artificial intelligence in radiology.

(Bridging the AI Gap in Radiology: From Data to Clinical Impact).

His supervision emphasizes clinically oriented research, methodological rigor, clinical validation, human-in-the-loop approaches, and the responsible integration of emerging technologies into medical and radiological practice.

Educational Leadership & Professional Societies

Beyond formal university teaching, Dr. Ranschaert has played a significant role in shaping education at the European level. As Past President of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) and current Chair of its Educational Committee, he has contributed to the development of educational programmes, webinars, and training initiatives focused on AI and digital health in radiology.

Earlier in his career, he also contributed to educational publishing as a co-editor and author for Radiopaedia.org, supporting open-access radiology education through case development and editorial work.
